Depends on the mixture, is there more alfalfa than grass? I agree that once they are used to it there USUALLY isn't a problem. I graze my mixed fields hard in the spring, take one cutting of hay in June, then let it grow until fall for pasture. You can graze alfalfa without much problem when it is either real short or past bloom stage. It is the in between that can cause problems.
