We have done alfalfa, red clover and birdsfoot trefoil for seed. We have found you never get big yields without drought stress on it. We have heavy land and good precipitation. In those conditions it just wants to grow biomass and doesn’t set big seed. Get some drought stress right before flowering and it flowers way better. Also put bees in.
