| 10 to 30%+ here across the same 40 ac field here. ...But this is dryland and I didn't get any rain since late June -- which came as 1.5" in short order. Higher organic matter & COC field dips were "okay", higher sandy areas were the ugliest nubs of corn out there. Driest my farm has been in my 30yrs, with rains coming fast -- so lots of variability. Tried a week later on the 30%+ and it had dropped to around 20%. The open husks, near record temps, and howling wind put the dryer to shame. | |
