My X is a larger and heavier vehicle that was loaded down for the snow-bird trip. Consequently, it only made 317 Wh/mile. Some of the smaller Teslas will do about 250 Wh/mile.
As you say, the convenience and low cost of home charging is a plus for an EV. Lack of maintenance is nice too. 
I really enjoy the super-car performance though. Comfort and convenience offered by the car helps too. EVs are not for everyone, but for me, I have zero regrets and would replace it with another if this one was in a wreck or something like that.
