I keep a Rain-X chip repair kit in my vehicle. Chip repair isn't rocket science and the repair kit is around $12. Will do several repairs before the liquid in the kit dries up. If a guy catches the chip before it becomes contaminated with bugs or liquids, I've had good success and it's way less hassle than scheduling a shop to do it. Nothing gets reported to Lexis-Nexis or Car Fax if I do it myself.
