Pittsburg, Kansas | That is the Bikman I listen to.
That meal replacement you linked to is pretty decent. It is not a ribeye steak by any means. We bought some of it to help my wife's elderly parents get more protein in them. I would not eat it all the time (and even Bikman says in the past that eating real food is much better, but for those on time constraints and needing something quick and nutritious, the shake mixture is an alternative). Doesn't taste too bad. Not nearly as good as a real meal.
By the way, Bikman (the scientist) is no longer associated or a part of that company (his brothers own it). He is the one that made up the original formula, insisting on good fats and protein for sources (rather than the cheapest ingredients). And I would imagine he still talks to his brothers. But he turned the company over to his brothers exclusively and he no longer has any conflict of interest in selling products. He gets no income from it. He did not go into details, that is just something he kind of said as an off hand comment one day. He is no longer involved in or has any interest in the business end of the product. Whether he still consults on the formula I don't know as he did not say.
Just my guess but I suspected he did not want the issue of conflict of interest. Up until the point of him and his brothers starting that company he had no conflicts. When he made that comment I figured he wanted to get away from the potential conflict so as to not taint his scientific research. But that is just a guess on my part.
My wife did not like it because it contains some Stevia to make it more palatable. She just doesn't care for Stevia. That part didn't bother me one way or the other. We tried both flavors before taking it over to my in-laws. I have considered ordering some more for me but I really have no idea why I would need it or when I would use it. My wife is such a good cook and when she is away I have a few restaurants I like. So I don't have much need for a meal replacement shake.
Here is a search for Bikman #mce_temp_url# and what he thinks about the consumption of oils (fats) made out of seeds. Most of the presentations that come up are from the "Doctors to Trust" presentations which are short clips from other doctors or researchers that they want to promote and provide specific information on specific issues rather than the full presentation of the doctors or researchers which may cover a wide range of topics. They are usually short and to the point.
