Subject: RE: calf catcher thoughts

SE Wisconsin
I have seen the calf catchers that mount on ATV/UTVs. they work well once the cattle are used to them clanging around. I am a dealer for Hay Manager and they offer a skid loader mounted calf catcher. We have sold a few of them. They are like $2500 compared to the $3900 of the ATV mounted brands.

The skid loader mounted one works well for a newborn or calf that is sick and not moving well. We also use it by parking near the calf and cow, grabbing the calf and pulling into the box if needed. It has a cage in it to help transport the calf if needed to a barn etc.

Although not as maneuverable, I think the skid loader one is useful enough to have. We've all been around cows that are nice...until they are not. lol

$2500 is a good chunk of money, but not outrageous. It will also hold its value well for awhile.
