Subject: JohnGrass after a frost?

West TN
I remember old timers saying that first few hours after a killing frost, that if a cow ate johnsongrass, it would kill them. Is this true? I have not had any cows in years, but son may buy some stocker calves to graze on wheat planted after corn. Would the corn be poinsous also?
Thanks
