ECIL
"I have come to believe that I was addicted to some Chemical in our Ultra-processed food."

I'm beginning to think the same. Earlier this year my wife and I took a 2 1/2 week trip to Italy. Over the course of the first 10 days I felt sluggish and not quite myself. I blamed it on jet lag. After that I started to feel great. Even though we ate a lot more pasta, etc. we ate the same amounts, or maybe a bit more, than we did at home. We also walked an average of 4-5 miles/day. By the time we returned home we each lost close to 10 lbs. After getting over the jet lag from coming home the lost weight started to return even though we were still active and cut back a bit on eating. Snacking habits returned (totally gone when in Italy), and both of us started to feel kind of crummy for the next two weeks. Now we are slowly cutting back on the more processed foods. Hopefully the benefits of doing so begin to show soon.
