Wisconsin | Basic options are the vertical slat barrel type press that's usually paired with a cast iron screw and a "chunker" type grinder that will get about a third of the weight of the apples as juice. A little better is a rack and cloth that's typically paired with a hydraulic press and a finer style of grinder to get two thirds of the weight of the apples in juice. There are also bladder type presses that use water, or air pressure to press the juice. Then there's commercial styles like continuous belt presses, and others.
If you don't care about yield, and looking for ten gallons or so a year, the barrel press is hard to beat, because it's simpler, so easier to clean. You could line one with cloth and use a finer grind for better yield that's still less components than a rack and cloth. If you're doing a hundred gallons a year, that's the range to consider rack and cloth.
Are you looking to buy one? rig one up? build an heirloom?
