Well done!
I do agree that as we age we need to get enough protein to prevent lean muscle mass loss. And we need to increase resistance exercise to keep our muscles as strong as they can be. This is a difficult task for many and takes effort to accomplish.
Dr Attia in his book "Outlive" notes that he typically sets 1.6 g/kg/day as the minimum amount of protein needed. The RDA is 0.8 gm/kg/day (which is really a survival lowest amount). He notes that "the data suggest that for active people with normal kidney function, one gram per pound of body weight (or 2.2 g/kg/day) is a good place to start". He defines the safe upper limit as 3.7g/kg/day.
As the dietitian, I would add these couple other caveats- NORMAL kidney function (that means BUN and Cr in the normal range). Too much protein is hard on your kidney if they are not functioning up to par.
Also, these formulas for g/kg/day are for people at normal body weights. If you are overweight or obese, then you need to use an adjusted body wt to do the multiplying from. The formula is not based on the more you weigh the more you can eat. Here's a link to calculate your adjusted body wt if you are overweight/obese and still want to do the math: https://www.mdcalc.com/calc/68/ideal-body-weight-adjusted-body-weigh...
