I may have misspoke above. I hear different recommendations from the doctors/researchers I follow but it kind of goes in one ear and out the other. I never really take time to figure out the grams of protein vs grams of the meat I eat (which is not 100% protein) vs the kilograms I weigh. I just did a PubMed search #mce_temp_url#. I do know, at least based on the people I listen to, official recommendations are considerably lower than what they recommend. 

As we get older our utilization of protein decreases so by some opinions we should up the rate of consumption compared to younger people. The young people need more protein for growth but they digest and utilize it at a much greater efficiency. At least that is what I remember being told and there is some research to back that up (you will find it in the search).
