Depends on what you're hauling.
I've got a 22' 14k trailer, had a flat in Terre Haute once, pretty new 12 ply tires, picked up a nail and ran it flat dang. No spare on board that day, double dang. Local store had 16 ply tire so that's what I bought. No problems yet but I rarely put 10k up on the deck.
